Why Rockstar Skipped a Traditional GTA 6 Gameplay Trailer
Rockstar explains why they chose a unique format over a standard trailer to showcase the massive world of GTA 6.
manhwa.newsFans noticed something different about the latest look at Grand Theft Auto 6. Instead of the usual narrated gameplay trailer we saw for titles like GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games opted for an Extended Look. This footage premiered on Netflix on August 27 before appearing on official company channels.
Rob Nelson, the co studio head at Rockstar North, recently explained the choice. He noted that it is extremely tough to capture the true nature of the game in a standard trailer format. The sheer scale and the variety of activities available in this open world make it difficult to condense into a traditional promotional video.
This new approach aims to give players a better sense of how the game actually feels. By showing an extended sequence rather than quick cuts, the team hopes to highlight the depth of the environment. Fans are still waiting for more concrete details, but this shift in marketing shows how ambitious the developers are with this release.
