The Storm Is a Chaotic and Hilarious Dinner Party Disaster

If you enjoy watching social masks slip away, you need to check out the new Netflix film The Storm. Directed by Josephine Bornebusch, the story follows a couple struggling to save their failing Swedish bed and breakfast. In a desperate attempt to find investors, they invite their wealthy university friends over for a dinner party. Unfortunately for everyone involved, the guests are hiding as many secrets as their hosts.

The situation turns south when a literal storm traps the entire group inside the farmhouse. As the weather intensifies, so does the drama. Each guest, from an egomaniac CEO to a judgmental social media activist, finds their carefully crafted image falling apart. Watching these selfish personalities collide is equal parts dark, funny, and incredibly tense.

What makes the film work is the fantastic cast. Gustaf Skarsgård and Aliette Opheim lead the charge as the crumbling couple at the center of the madness. Their performances keep the energy frantic and engaging from start to finish. The house itself acts as another character, slowly closing in on the group as their secrets are dragged into the light.

If you are looking for something that balances anxiety with dark humor, this is a great pick. It is a wild, messy, and entertaining ride that captures how people behave when their facades finally crack under pressure. You can stream it now on Netflix.
