Batman: Bad Seeds Gotham General Issue 1 Brings Gritty Drama

Batman: Bad Seeds Gotham General Issue 1 shifts the focus from caped crusaders to the real heroes of Gotham. Written by Greg Rucka with art by Rosa Ekdal and Steve Lieber, this story centers on the medical staff at the city's largest hospital. As the streets fill with vines and spores, the doctors and nurses find themselves dealing with an endless night of medical emergencies and mounting pressure.

What makes this issue stand out is its grounded approach. Instead of focusing on vigilantes, the story highlights the professionals trying to survive a crisis without superpowers. The dialogue is packed with realistic medical jargon, making the hospital setting feel authentic and intense. We also get to see the personal side of the staff, including doctors with secret connections and families caught in the middle of the chaos.

The art team does a wonderful job of contrasting the sterile, blue toned environment of the hospital with the dark, dangerous forest that Gotham has become. The layouts clearly show the frenzy of the emergency department as patients pour in. This issue works perfectly as a self contained drama that anchors the wider crossover event in a believable, gritty reality.
