Suikoden Anime First Impressions: Is The Big Cast Too Much?
We checked out the first three episodes of the Suikoden anime to see if the massive cast holds up on screen.
manhwa.newsFans have waited a long time to see the legendary RPG series hit the screen. With the theatrical screening of the first three episodes now behind us, we finally have a better idea of how the show handles its ambitious scope. The biggest question for any adaptation of this series is whether the huge ensemble cast can actually shine in a limited format.
Getting so many iconic characters into the spotlight is a difficult task. The first three episodes do their best to balance the introduction of key figures while setting up the political tension that defines the games. It is clear that the creators are trying to stay true to the spirit of the source material, but the pacing feels rushed at times as it tries to get everyone on stage.
If you are a fan of the original games, you will appreciate the effort to bring these visual designs to life. While it is too early to say if the show will nail the complex storytelling the series is known for, these early episodes provide a decent foundation. We are looking forward to seeing how the narrative unfolds once the story settles into its rhythm.
