Fans of the iconic series have long wanted a game that truly nails the feeling of using ODM gear. While previous titles had their moments, they often felt clunky or limited by the fact that the anime was still ongoing. Development producer Hideo Suzuki explained that Koei Tecmo waited for the anime to conclude so they could create a complete package that covers the entire story from start to finish.

In this new entry, players will create an original custom character rather than controlling Eren or his friends. This character acts as an observer who trains alongside the main cast. While some fans might prefer playing as the familiar heroes, Suzuki believes this choice allows players to experience the broader perspectives of the later seasons, offering a fresh way to see the story unfold.

The real highlight is the movement. Using the trigger based controls, players can zip through the Trost District with ease. The developers put significant work into the underlying math that manages the ODM anchors, which prevents players from bumping into walls and keeps the action flowing smoothly. It finally feels like the high speed experience many fans imagined.

Beyond the fast paced combat, the game will feature new open field areas that move away from the strict constraints of the anime. These sections allowed the team at Omega Force to add their own creative touches to the setting. While there are still questions about how well the narrative handles the original character, the improved gameplay suggests this will be a massive step forward for the series.
