Always Lalisa Review: Spotlight On A New Chapter

Hey everyone at Manhwa News! We have a great new review for you today. Always Lalisa puts global music icon LISA from Blackpink in the center of attention. Directed by Sue Kim, this new documentary follows the star over a year during her break from the group. It captures her hard work while creating her solo album, Alter Ego, and setting up her own management company, Lloud.

The film takes viewers back to her early days in Thailand, showing her dance competition background and her journey to YG Entertainment. Director Sue Kim captures both the triumphs and the struggles along the way. Fans get to see a very vulnerable side of LISA, especially as she works hard to develop her singing voice after years of mostly rapping in Blackpink. The documentary also addresses past controversies honestly, giving a complete picture of the artist.

While the inspirational path of the movie feels a bit predictable, strong camerawork and fast pacing keep viewers hooked from start to finish. Always Lalisa had its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival and is currently playing in theaters for a limited run. It will also stream exclusively on YouTube Premium later in 2026.
