100 Days of Deception Episodes 1 2 Review: A Thrilling Start
The new historical drama kicks off with high stakes, danger, and a risky pickpocket in 1932 Gyeongseong.
manhwa.news100 Days of Deception wastes no time setting up a dramatic and emotionally charged story. Set in 1932 during the Japanese colonization of Joseon, the first two episodes drop viewers right into the political turmoil of Gyeongseong. The plot begins at a crowded train station where the newly appointed Inspector General, Sato Shinichi, arrives to a massive gathering. Amidst the chaos, a cocky pickpocket named Lee Ga kyung steals items from some very dangerous people, setting off a chain reaction of trouble.
Ga kyung accidentally steals a bag of weapons from Yoo So ran, a resistance fighter posing as a Chinese woman in a marriage of convenience with journalist Yoo Phillip. The couple plans to assassinate Shinichi, but losing their weapons throws their mission into chaos. Soon after, Ga kyung also picks the pocket of Sato Hideo, the adopted son of Shinichi. Her habit of taking foolish risks leaves her tangled in a dangerous web of conspiracies, blackmail, and an unexpected assassination attempt at the Yoo household.
The tension peaks during the dinner party assassination plot, which goes completely wrong when other unknown killers crash the event. Jin Seon kyu delivers a terrifying, restrained performance as the powerful Shinichi, making every scene feel genuinely dangerous. By the end of episode two, the Yoos manage to cover their tracks, but Ga kyung is left as a major person of interest in Hideo's eyes.
Fans of historical thrillers will find a lot to love here, thanks to strong performances and fast pacing. As the characters deal with the fallout of the failed assassination, future episodes promise even more suspense and close calls. Viewers are eager to see how Ga kyung will survive her encounters with the authorities.
