The Witcher 3 Developers Had Hilarious Issues With NPC Babies
Creating a realistic world led to some very strange glitches for the team behind The Witcher 3.
manhwa.newsThe Witcher 3 is famous for its lively open world, but getting those NPCs to act naturally was not easy. Former quest designer Philipp Weber recently shared that the team worked hard to give every character a daily routine to make the villages feel lived in. They wanted the world to react to Geralt in a believable way.
This focus on detail led to some funny development bugs. Weber explained that when players started fighting in small villages, the NPCs would panic. Because the team had programmed these characters to behave like real people, the NPCs would sometimes drop their babies during the chaos to flee from Geralt.
It is a great look at the trial and error required to make such an immersive experience. While players enjoy the final version for its polish, these early hiccups show just how much work goes into making a virtual world feel truly alive.
