The Official Pokemon X Account Was Compromised by Hackers

The official Pokemon account on X experienced a security breach on August 27, 2026. For about 30 minutes, hackers gained control of the profile and used it to share unauthorized messages about a new cryptocurrency.

The posts promoted a fake Pokemon themed memecoin and included a crypto wallet address to trick followers. These messages tried to tie the scam into the ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations of the franchise.

The Pokemon Company regained control of the account shortly after the incident began. They deleted all the suspicious posts and secured the profile to prevent further issues. No further unauthorized content remains on the page.
