Rare Legend of Zelda Game Sells for Over $32,000

Collectors are buzzing after a rare copy of The Legend of Zelda for the Japanese Famicom system sold for $32,500 at Heritage Auctions. The game, titled Zelda no Densetsu: The Hyrule Fantasy, is in incredible shape and received a high grade of CGC 9.2 A+ from professional graders.

The high sale price comes down to one specific detail. The packaging features yellow text that reads Disk System. Later versions of the game switched this to white lettering, making this specific version a highly sought after relic from the very beginning of the series.

It is amazing to see an item from four decades ago preserved in such perfect condition. This sale proves that even the smallest variations in printing can make a huge difference for video game collectors who want a piece of gaming history.
