Nintendo Policy Reportedly Blocks Switch 2 Full Cartridge Reprints

Fans who love collecting physical copies might face a setback on the upcoming Nintendo platform. According to recent reports from the video game retailer VGP, Nintendo has a game key card policy that is stopping some Switch 2 games from getting traditional cartridge reprints. Instead of containing the full game data, these releases often require an extra internet download, which has already drawn plenty of criticism from players who prefer having everything on the physical card.

VGP recently shared that they want to help publishers release full cartridge editions for games that originally came out as game key cards. Sadly, the retailer says that current Nintendo rules are blocking these plans from moving forward. Many players care deeply about game preservation and having complete versions of their favorite titles on physical media without relying on digital servers.

As anticipation builds for the next generation of Nintendo hardware, physical collectors are keeping a close eye on how these publishing rules will shape future releases. We will have to wait and see if Nintendo decides to adjust this policy to give fans and retailers more freedom with physical editions.
