After the stale reception of Modern Warfare III, Infinity Ward has stepped back in to guide the series, and the changes in Modern Warfare 4 are noticeable immediately. The movement speed feels intentionally slower and more grounded, moving away from the frantic pace of recent Black Ops entries. Players now slide and mantle like realistic soldiers, bringing back a tactical rhythm that has been missing for a while.

The map design shows a significant improvement as well. With a mix of twelve 6v6 maps, the game offers a strong variety of locations, from the crumbling industrial zones of Coal to the busy streets of the Silkworm shopping district. While some maps like Nautical suffer from predictable layouts and spawn issues, the overall selection provides great opportunities for both snipers and aggressive players.

Infinity Ward has also added fresh modes like Collateral, which introduces a single life, cash based loop that feels like a tighter, more strategic challenge. Meanwhile, the loadout system feels balanced and accessible, especially with the addition of Gunny, an assistant that helps players build weapons based on their preferred playstyle. Killstreaks now reward objective play, which encourages teams to actually capture points rather than just farming kills.

While 32v32 Combat Outpost mode feels like a bit of a missed opportunity compared to the tighter 6v6 experience, the package as a whole is a massive step forward. If the development team stays on top of balance patches to prevent a single weapon setup from taking over, Modern Warfare 4 could keep fans engaged for a long time.
