Meet Doctrine, The New Overwatch Hero Who Rules The Support Meta

BlizzCon 2026 brought a major surprise for Overwatch fans. The latest hero to join the roster is Doctrine, a vampire themed support character who was freed from a maximum security prison by Doomfist and his allies. He is set to arrive as part of the Season 5 update on October 6 across all platforms.

Doctrine brings a unique playstyle that feels like a mix of fan favorites. His primary staff fire heals allies and damages enemies simultaneously, while his Invigorating Drones provide extra healing and attack speed buffs. He also features Shrouded Momentum, a mobility skill that allows him to zoom around the map while reducing incoming damage, making him very difficult for dive characters to take down.

The real highlight is his Infuse ability. This tool modifies his other skills, letting his primary fire pierce targets, granting him temporary flight, and allowing him to attach drones to himself. His ultimate, Deliverance, is equally intense. It reduces enemy health while granting allies overhealth, creating a massive shift in team fights that could easily flip a losing game.

Fans can look forward to playing as Doctrine when Season 5 launches on October 6. Alongside his release, the update will introduce a new map called Watchpoint: Grimsvötn located in Iceland. This update wraps up the first year of the Reign of Talon narrative, and players are eager to see how this mysterious new hero changes the competitive landscape.
