Gou Tanabe brings The Case of Charles Dexter Ward to English fans

Fans of horror manga have something to look forward to in the coming years. Dark Horse Comics confirmed during their Anime NYC presentation that they are publishing an English version of Gou Tanabe’s adaptation of The Case of Charles Dexter Ward. This release is expected to arrive in the spring of 2027.

Gou Tanabe has built a strong reputation for his ability to translate the strange and unsettling prose of H.P. Lovecraft into visual art. He is already well known for his previous adaptations, including The Call of Cthulhu, which earned him a Bram Stoker Award. His style captures the dread of the original stories perfectly.

This upcoming release continues the publisher's long tradition of translating Tanabe's work for an international audience. Collectors who have been building their library of these dark, atmospheric graphic novels will certainly want to keep an eye out for this one when it hits shelves in 2027.
