Firefly Wedding Episode 3 Review: A Dangerous Reality Check

Firefly Wedding Episode 3 brings a harsh reality check for Satoko Kirigaya as she begins her dangerous plan to stay on Tennyo Island and work as a courtesan. Following Shinpei Goto's suggestion, Satoko enters the lowest ranked brothel on the island. While her disguise and etiquette training impress at first, she quickly learns that her plan is full of flaws. She is paired with her very first customer, Eishin Nitobe, the son of the superintendent general, who seems harmless at a glance but hides a terrifying side.

The episode uses Eishin to show how appearances can be extremely deceiving. Although Shinpei keeps watch from the rafters, Satoko drops her guard too easily and faces sabotage from the other women in the brothel. Once Eishin drinks a spiked beverage, his violent secondary personality takes over, putting Satoko in immediate danger and turning the story into a tense confrontation.

While the handling of Eishin's condition feels a bit heavy on exposition, the episode successfully highlights the dark threats women face in this industry. It also deepens the complicated dynamic between Satoko and Shinpei, proving that even a killer like Shinpei might be a safer bet than the men who prey on the vulnerable. Fans watching the series will find plenty of suspense as this dark romance continues to unfold.
