The development team at Pearl Abyss is focusing on a major goal for their upcoming title Crimson Desert. During a recent presentation, the team explained that they want players to feel a true connection to the environment. They are building the land of Pywel so that distant structures and sights are not just background images for the scenery.

Environment artist Geuntae Ahn shared that the team worked hard to make sure players can trust what they see in the distance. The philosophy is simple. If you can see a landmark on the horizon, you should be able to travel to it. This approach is intended to make the experience of exploring the map feel much more authentic and rewarding.

Ahn noted that building this level of interaction was a massive challenge. However, the team believes this feature provides more value to the player experience than almost any other part of their work. They want the journey to feel honest, ensuring that curiosity is always rewarded with a real destination.
