Cells at Work! VR Helps Young Patients During Cancer Treatment

A pediatric surgeon at Hiroshima University Hospital has created a unique virtual reality game based on the popular Cells at Work! series. Doctor Isamu Saeki decided to develop this project after seeing how much his own daughter enjoyed the anime. He wanted to find a way to help his young patients feel better about the difficult medical procedures they face.

The game explains how cancer works and how medicine fights it within the human body. By using the familiar and fun characters from the series, the project helps children visualize their treatment in a positive way. It makes scary hospital procedures feel much more approachable for kids going through a hard time.
