5.2manhwa.newsBatman Issue 13 kicks off the Bad Seeds event with an intense, fast paced story that puts Bruce Wayne to the test. The comic follows Batman as he attempts to fight his way from the bottom to the top of a Gotham police precinct. The objective is clear, and the odds are overwhelmingly stacked against him as he faces waves of heavily armored riot soldiers at every turn.
Writer Matt Fraction shifts the focus to Batman as a pure combatant. While the issue is light on dialogue, it offers a great look at his tenacity and intelligence. We see a clear distinction between the regular beat cops who seem glad to have Batman around and the aggressive SWAT teams standing in his way. Even as he sustains injuries and battles growing fatigue, his commitment to protecting bystanders remains a highlight of the story.
The art by Matteo Scalera is the star of the show. The action sequences are fluid and capture Batman's athleticism as he uses his surroundings to clear rooms. The color palette makes excellent use of high contrast, switching between deep shadows where the Dark Knight hides and blinding flashes of light. These visuals create a sense of constant energy that keeps the pace moving until the final page.
If you enjoy visceral, action heavy comics, this issue is a must read. The creative team successfully translates the feel of a cinematic fight scene into the comic format. With Vandal Savage waiting at the end of this gauntlet, the stakes for the rest of the Bad Seeds event have never been higher.
