Arknights: Endfield 1.6 Brings Great Story Beats but Struggles with Si

Arknights: Endfield 1.6 takes the Endministrator on a personal journey to heal recent wounds. Joined by the Feramut Proxy Si, the duo travels to a stunning painted mountain home. While the story successfully sheds light on the protagonist's lost memories and future path, the heavy focus on Si creates a mixed experience. Her personality is quite intense, and the lack of other characters to balance her out makes the narrative feel a bit thin during key moments.

Despite the frustration with Si's character writing, the setting is a total highlight. The ink style landscapes and magical vistas are genuinely beautiful to explore. The update also adds engaging puzzle solving elements that allow you to interact with the environment in creative ways, helping the player feel more connected to the world as they progress through the healing process.

On the gameplay front, Si is a standout addition to any team. She is incredibly versatile, functioning as a main or sub DPS for both cryo and heat teams. Her kit includes unique fixed damage options, and her combat animations, which feature a massive dragon, are some of the most impressive in the game so far. Additionally, players can check out the new Yuanyuan's Blazing Stove mode, a fun mini game that combines farming and food service for a nice change of pace.

While the boss fight at the end of the story feels a bit forced and out of place, the payoff for the overall narrative is strong. Fans looking for more lore and a fresh look at the protagonist's identity will find plenty to enjoy here, even if the road to get there has a few bumps.
