The animated film All Wishes Come True! offers a fresh take on the classic Chinese legend of the Eight Immortals. While many people recognize these figures from the famous story of them crossing the sea, this film focuses on who they were before their journey began. It combines an action adventure style with clever heist elements to keep things moving quickly.

Pearl Studio CEO Catherine Ying believes that pulling from Chinese mythology is a great way to create modern animation. The team felt that the original legend had plenty of gaps, which gave them the creative freedom to explore how these eight individuals actually met and why they were drawn together in the first place.

One of the biggest hurdles for director Mu Zhengyang was making sure all eight characters felt unique and memorable within the runtime. To solve this, the team focused on a few core characters while using the Five Color Aesthetics methodology to give every immortal a distinct visual look. They even cast actors with very different voice profiles to ensure the audience could tell everyone apart.

Zhongli Quan stands out as a clear favorite for the creative team. He is presented as an relatable figure who faces doubt and difficulty, yet consistently chooses to do the right thing. The creators hope that this message of choosing justice, even when it is hard, resonates with viewers as much as it does with them.
